Bordeaux 2000 - An exceptionnal
quality.. but selectively
|
|
The 2000
vintage in the Bordeaux area is characterised by the exceptionnal quality of a relatively
limited number of wineries (approx. 40 wine estates). But surprisingly a majority of winemakers don't get very high ratings. This explains why the global score for the 2000
vintage is for instance lower than for the 1998
vintage.
2000 can be described as the
vintage with the widest spread of
average ratings between the top ranked chateaux and the
followers.
A careful selection is essential to avoid further disappointments !

The Score effect
|
|
This year we have statistically estimated the effect of the critics' scores on the price - or
"Score Effect". This measure is particularly strong in
2000 with an average +15% price increase for each additional scoring point. In comparison,
the Score Effect was +9% in 1999, +12% in 1998 and finally +10% in
1997.
