1997 Leoville Poyferre, Saint-Julien,
Bordeaux, France
1997 Leovile Poyferre :
Tasted immediatly after 97
Brane-Cantenac, this one is a totally different and very enjoyable
wine. Much
deeper hue than Brane,
fruity, spicy (pepper)
nose. This
1997 Léoville Poyferré is nicely
balanced with
ripe tannins and a good
length. One of the most full bodied samplea of the
97
vintage for this category of wine (ex-the First Classified Growths). A very nice
Leoville Poyferre. Ready to drink now but should develop favourably for another 5 years or more (2007 - 2010). 86/100 |

2001 Leoville Poyferre, Saint-Julien,
Bordeaux, France
2001 Leoville Poyferre :
Silky nose although quite woody. Red fruits. Elegant structure, with
a nicely defined juicy fruit and crunching tannins. Beautiful
balance but rather average length. A nice wine, but it lacks of
punch. 88/100. |

2003 Leoville Poyferre, Saint-Julien,
Bordeaux, France
2003 Leoville Poyferre :
Opulent flavours of blackcurrant, liquorice, cocoa and menthol. Large bodied with awesome power and
weight. 2003 Leoville Poyferre has well structured tannins which currently slightly overwhelm the fruit. Long and persistent finish. 2003 Leoville Poyferre is perhaps just a little less complex and more closed at this stage than the 03 Leoville Barton. An unmistakably excellent Leoville Poyferre. 93/100
